Learners are assessed through a portfolio of evidence completed in the workplace. Assessment methods include workplace observations, professional discussions, reflective accounts, witness testimonies and supporting evidence that demonstrate occupational competence. All assessments are internally assessed and externally quality assured by the relevant awarding organisation (NCFE CACHE or Pearson).

To enrol, learners should:

  • Be aged 16 years or over
  • Be employed in an adult care setting in England
  • Be working in, or preparing for, a Lead Adult Care Worker role
  • Have the opportunity to demonstrate competence in the workplace
  • Have access to suitable work activities that meet the qualification requirements

On successful completion, learners can:

  • Progress to a Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification in Adult Care
  • Develop their career as a Lead Adult Care Worker, Senior Care Assistant, Senior Support Worker or Team Leader
  • Progress into supervisory and management roles within adult social care
  • Continue professional development through higher-level leadership and management qualifications
  • Progress to higher education. Learners who achieve this qualification alongside Functional Skills Level 2 (or GCSE equivalent) in English and Mathematics, and who meet individual university entry requirements, may be eligible to apply for relevant higher education programmes, including degrees in Health and Social Care, Nursing, Social Work and other related subjects.

The NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leading and Managing an Adult Care Service is an Ofqual-regulated qualification designed for managers and aspiring managers working in adult social care settings in England. It equips learners with the advanced leadership, management and professional skills required to lead high-quality, person-centred care services and meet current sector standards.

This competence-based qualification is ideal for Registered Managers, Deputy Managers and those preparing for leadership roles within adult social care. Learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to lead teams, drive continuous improvement, manage resources effectively and deliver safe, effective and compassionate care

  • Be working in a Manager, Deputy Manager or equivalent leadership role, or have the opportunity to undertake management responsibilities
  • Have access to a workplace where leadership and management competence can be demonstrated

On successful completion, learners can:

  • Meet the qualification requirements for leadership and management roles within adult social care
  • Progress into roles such as Registered Manager, Service Manager, Operations Manager or other senior leadership positions
  • Continue professional development through higher-level leadership, management or health and social care qualifications
  • Progress to higher education. Learners who meet individual university entry requirements may be eligible to apply for relevant undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in Leadership and Management, Health and Social Care, Public Health, Business Management and other related disciplines.
